In 2015, Grandmother Circles began raising funds to help see families and student through unexpected emergencies that put families and students in peril. After receiving their first $1,500 in unrestricted emergency funds, the grandmother circle proposed using the funds for:
1. Miscellaneous healthcare services and sanitary supplies for scholarship students
2. Repair of a wind-damaged roof
3. Rebuilding of a fire-damaged home
4.Funds for families who’d otherwise need students to work during exams
5. Clothing and shoes for scholarship students without shoes or appropriate clothing
