News About the Grandmothers

Message from Kenya
by grandmothercircles on

The following is from Mary O, the person in Kenya  who is in touch with the women in the Grandmother Circles, in response to an email sent to her.

" God is on my side and I am so very strong to deal with whatever comes up.  I do also however have a lot of good friends.

The latest loss that involves the family of seven girls who have one of them as head of the family is the most challenging. Two of them can break away and take care of themselves and one is getting married in December. The remaining four now refuse to stay in their home because they see it a death home. I have mixed feelings. They might land in my house. I am going to ask for help to find distant foster parents who will help me support these four girls. On my own I am not able.

We are patient and know that good things are on the way. There are quite a number of women who would like to have communication with women on that side.  The mode of communication may be the problem. A lot of these women are illiterate. I will however mention this during their meeting and see who would like to communicate in writing. Then I will send you their names, pictures and addresses. But group writing is another alternative.

There's so much to do out here that you will find there are many people doing work similar to what I am doing. Please pray for us."

Take care.
Mary
